Travis Gibson is a certified instructor and teaches Vinyasa, Hatha, Yin and Restorative Yoga. His background is probably different than most instructors. He was born in Talladega, Alabama, USA. His mother was a teacher, and father a Methodist minister. He attended California State University, Sacramento and received a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. After graduation, He worked as a Juvenile Hall Counselor, then was hired by the BART Police Department. He retired as a Police Commander after 30 years in 2009.
Travis initially started practicing yoga to help relieve sciatic back pain and eventually joined a local yoga studio. In 2018, He attended Yoga Teacher Training and received his 200 hours RYT Yoga teaching certificate and began teaching. This new lifestyle has been a game changer. He continues to take ongoing continuing education training classes to expand his knowledge, improve his practice, learn additional skills to become more aware of his own mind and body so he can pass this knowledge to his students.

My philosophy is that yoga is a lifestyle which adheres to morals embodied in daily life.
Yogic morals manifest in my life through my activism and awareness of human and nonhuman suffering, therefore I am passionate about equity for all. I hope to help others see their beauty, strength, and intelligence and honor and care for themselves without self-judgment.
My background is in Vinyasa, subtly influenced by the lineages of my teachers, including Iyengar and Hatha. I teach varying levels of intensity, having regularly taught students of many demographics and experiences. My priorities are to keep people safe and breathing throughout their practice and to approach students in a trauma-informed and gentle way.
